Henley Royal Regatta latest

Well done to the Cork Boat Club mens senior four who represented the club well today in the second round of the Wyfold Club fours event at Henley Royal regatta. Despite a brave effort they were beaten by Roy Roy Boat club in a hard fought contest.

Boat club had beaten Cardiff City Rowing Club yesterday when they won by 1 length in a time of 7:52.

Well done to John Paul Collins, Stephen Carroll, Colm Dowling and Shane MacEoin for representing the club well at this level, you’ve done the club proud.

Club Get-Together – Sunday May 27th (After Metro Regatta)

Hi All,

On Sunday morning next the level of activity at the club will be
exceptionally high with rowers, coaches, boats and trailers just back from
Metro regatta.

The Committee wishes to welcome as many as possible of our members past and
present and friends to gather at the Club between 11 am and 1.30 pm to enjoy
the buzz, see the improvements in the clubhouse and view the growing gallery
of photographs, old and new, which are now back on the walls. It will also
be a chance for some to renew acquaintances.

We hope that Paul Duggan, probably our most senior member, will be there and
the intention is to take a GROUP PHOTOGRAPH of every one on the green now
that the balcony is accessible again!

New Boat Appeal

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU

Cork Boat Club is making a special one-off appeal to all those connected with our Club to help us purchase a second-hand Quad. We last acquired a Quad in 2007 (the Denis MacSweeney) and due to the increasing size of our membership, we urgently need for a new coxed quad / coxed four. We estimate the cost of a good second-hand boat would be approximately €5000 and are contacting all current Boat Club members, past members etc to seek help in funding the boat.

Please do whatever you can to help this urgent exceptional Quad funding appeal. We know times are difficult at present and though we are suggesting an amount of €50 due to the exceptional nature of the need, we appreciate any and all contributions. All going well, we hope to have a special club day in the near future to unveil our new Quad to everyone.

The following link can be used to contribute using credit cards or PayPal http://www.sponsor.ie/corkboatclub/event/cork-boat-club-quad-fundraiser/ or online banking to Ulster Bank sort code 98-54-82 Account Code 10263647 or send a cheque to Emmet Walsh, Ulster Bank, Ballincollig, Cork.

Thank you all in advance. Go Boat Club!

Lord Mayor’s Reception

The Lord Mayor of Cork,Cllr. Terry Shannon, has invited the members of Cork Boat Club to join him for a Mayoral Reception which will take place on Tuesday the 17th of January at 6.30pm.

This is a great honour for the club and it is important that it is well supported. A good turn out for the reception will reinforce the appreciation that the City Council have for the health of the rowing club and go some way towards demonstrating the important work that Cork Boat Club does in the local community. Making a lasting impression with the Mayor and councillors will also help ensure that we are well supported going forward in any future dealings we have with them.

Please do your best to attend and encourage your crewmates and fellow club members to go also. Please let your coach or a member of the committee know if you can make it so we can have a good idea of numbers.

Thanks,

CBC Committee.
